YOGATIMACY

YOGA + SEXUAL INTIMACY = YOGATIMACY

Singapore Planned Parenthood Association (SPPA) Organises first-ever Sexual Intimacy Seminar with Yoga for Couples

Sex is often a taboo subject in Singapore, given our conservative Asian culture. Hence its, no surprise that many people shy away from this topic, a 2008 sexual intimacy wellness survey showed that average Singaporean couple only had sex 62 times last year, one of the world’s lowest frequencies. Research has shown that frequency is often linked to stress, depression and mental fatigue, all common in Singaporeans.

Yoga has been gaining immense popularity worldwide and is one of the most sought after fitness workout in Singapore, which is known to have immense health benefits, helping to improve both physical and mental health, such as improving strength and flexibility, as well as relieving fatigue and stress.

Doing yoga will give you an increased awareness of your own body. You are often called upon to make small, subtle movements to improve your alignment. Over time, this will increase your level of comfort in your own body. This can lead to improved posture and greater self-confidence. Couples participating in the activity together are likely to enhance their comfort with each other bodies and enhance intimacy.

Intimacy is something most people in a relationship yearn for. It is often thought that intimacy occurs spontaneously and cannot be arranged or scheduled. The reality is that intimacy is the sum of many components coming together.
