Romeo In A Sequined Glove: A Metamorphosis – A Drama Adventure for Secondary School Students

Secondary school students can look forward to letting their creative juices flow with an exciting drama programme organised by Julia Gabriel Centre for Learning during the June school holidays.

Especially for students with a passion for photography, fashion, role-play, drama and literature, Romeo In A Sequined Glove: A Metamorphosis gives students from Secondary 1 to 5, the chance to take part in their very own ‘reality’ production.

Over five days, students will work in teams to create an original performance based on a selected scene from a recognised play. Students will explore the text, characters and plot to create their own interpretation, relevant to a young contemporary Singaporean audience.

As no performance is complete without costumes, the programme includes a group excursion to Arab Street*, where students will be given a limited time and budget to source and purchase  material to design and create their costumes. To help  publicise their production,  each team will  also develop promotional  material as well as coordinate a photography shoot outside the studio.

At the end of the week, students will perform to an invited audience and take home a journal  of their experiences.

Date: 28 March 2010, Sunday
Time: 8 PM
Venue: Singapore Art Museum: The Glass Hall
Admission rates: $15 (pre-sale) and $20 (at the door)

Armed with a kaleidoscope of musical gadgets and toys, The Analog Girl will take you on a musical odyssey of myths and legends in Storytelling, an intimate evening of electronic tunes held at the Singapore Art Museum: The Glass Hall. Undoubtedly a femme fatale of the local music scene, The Analog Girl’s unique and seductive sound will be sure to mesmerize, bringing down the barriers between the artist and the audience as she shares her musical stories of love and the universe.

Says The Analog Girl herself,
“Come join me for a live session of songs that track the journey of me as a songwriter through the years. You will get to hear songs that I don’t normally play during my live shows, as Storytelling presents a more intimate and introspective look into my music.”
