The 1960’s had been an extremely prolific decade for Warhol and in 1960 came his first pictures of comic strips and company logos. Between 1962 and 1964 he produced over 2,000 pieces at his workshop know as “The Factoryâ€. Taking images from popular culture, Warhol created many paintings that remain icons of 20th-century art, such as the Campbell’s Soup Cans, Disasters and Marilyns.
During the early 1970’s, Warhol began publishing “Interview†magazine and renewed his focus on painting and in particular commissioned portraits. Warhol began the 1980’s with the publication of POPism, The Warhol ’60’s and with the exhibitions of Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century, the Retrospectives and Reversal series.
