			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In celebration with International Dance Day 2009, Maya Dance Theatre is proud to present STEP UP!, a dance awareness and participation programme, on 25 April 2009 from 2:30pm to 8:30pm at Apsara Asiaâ€™s Dance Studio (No. 2 Kampong Kapor Road).</p>
<p>Moulded from the success of Free Dance Day and Letâ€™s Dance Day in 2008, this yearâ€™s programme is bigger and better with a wider range of programs. Enjoy video screenings, dance forums and a dance exhibition and showcase for free and participate in our dance workshops featuring modern dance, funk/hip hop, Bollywood, creative movement at a low rate of $5 per classÂ  Alternatively, the package for four classes is at a discounted rate of $15.</p>
<p>STEP UP! aims to make dance accessible to the public with its exciting programmes designed to cater to newcomers as well as seasoned dancers and the dance forms presented on the day reflects the wide range of dance styles in Singapore. Creative Director of Maya Dance Theatre, Ms Kavitha Krishnan says, â€œThis event is not only about appreciating dance as an art form, it also about celebrating the diversity of the dance through our exciting activities.â€</p>
<p>International Dance Day is celebrated annually on 29 April with a goal to increase the awareness of the importance of dance. STEP UP! is designed with this mission in mind as we bring a wide spectrum of dance to the general public within a single day.</p>

<p><strong>Maya Dance Theatre Ltd</strong></p>
<p>Maya Dance Theatre Ltd was established in late 2006 by a group of artists who are passionate about designing and presenting thought-provoking arts productions.</p>
<p>Set-up as a â€˜limited by guaranteeâ€™ company, works by Maya showcase a range of performing art forms and genres with explorative efforts with both independent artistes as well as local and international performing arts groups. With a forte in dance, Maya Dance Theatre also delves into collaborative art performances, where different art forms are cohesively woven in the performances.Â Â </p>
<p>Transcending cultural, ethnic and national borders, productions by Maya are steeped in strong themes and concepts that offer a distinctive approach to contemporary dance theatre.</p>
<p>The highlight of Mayaâ€™s unique style lies in the amalgamation of art forms, ranging from dance, music, theatre, poetry and text.</p>
<p>Ultimately, Maya aspires to create a dimension where imagination turns into reality.</p>
