Visitors’ Briefing Room, Level 1

National Library Building

Join us for a sharing session with leading Australian poet, Chris Wallace-Crabbe as we discuss poetry over afternoon tea with selected readings by the poet.

Latest among the poet’s eighteen poetry books are the postmodern epic, The Universe Looks Down (Brandl & Schlesinger), which is now being made into an opera and Telling a Hawk from a Handsaw (Carcanet Oxford Poets) published recently in 2008. Read It Again (Salt) is his latest critical volume.

Chris Wallace-Crabbe is also Chair of the Australian Poetry Centre, Melbourne. He is a critic of the Visual Arts and produces artists’ books with Melbourne painter, Bruno Leti.

This session will be chaired by Professor Edwin Thumboo who is an award-winning Singaporean poet himself. He is an Emeritus Professor from National University of Singapore and is one of the pioneers of English Literature in Singapore.
